earth as it would appear from space rotate silently atop a three-fingered
solid acrylic base. No batteries or electrical cord are required as this
globe harnesses solar energy to power its internal drive mechanism.
Solar powered rotation depends on light and the magnetic energy of the earth
to keep it spinning effortlessly. Advanced solar cells embedded inside the
globe provide power to its rotational drive even under normal indoor light
sources. The highly efficient drive mechanism incorporates a magnetic
element that reacts to the Earth's magnetic field in a similar manner to a
compass, providing torque to drive the globe.
Just as the earth revolves in response to natural
energies such as light, magnetic fields and gravity, so does this
exceptional globe, turning twice a minute under full light, slowing a bit in
dimmer light, "resting" in darkness.
