An idea came from a simple
question : if the upper is better than the lower, do we deserve being in
the map of the world's upper part?
Why do Australians put South
Pole in the upper part of their maps? Isn't it because of some kind of
inferiority complex?
I decided to make every body
equal, and a little gift to Sao Tomé. It's a small island set on equator,
off Libreville, Gabon.
On the plastic maps of the
world, it often disappears in the hemisphere's seam.
In this work, I put Sao Tomé
on the top of the world. I just weighted its antipode. No uproar, just a
little movement to advantage it.
