a highly detailed and current world globe accessible at your fingertips.
Everything you look for in a globe is here; a 16", illuminated globe ball
in your choice of blue or antique oceans, walnut-finish base, and full
die-cast meridian, with painted finish. Nicely detailed stand features
casters (roll away wheels) for more convenient locating of the globe. Blue
ocean version includes raised relief and a dual (physical/political) map
feature that reveals political coloration when the light is turned on.
This is a feature that is uncommon in an illuminated globe. The antique
ocean version does not have raised relief, but instead uses a sphere with
hand-positioned paper gores. The LaFayette is a globe that will be used

Please note that illuminated globes have a cord routed from the southern
axis of the globe ball. The photographer has hidden the cord in these
photos. Because of the inclusion of an electrical cord, the meridian ring
must rotate within slots in the stand instead of pivoting around a pin
attached to the meridian as most non-illuminated globes do.
