A unique globe featuring up-to-date cartography and political
data for the current era, with the look and feel of an antique globe. The
globe features richly detailed political/physical cartography originally
published by Merzbach & Falk, Brussels, 1881. Elaborate work has been done
by expert globe makers & restoration experts to revise this globe for modern
times while still maintaining an original antique appearance. Depicted on
the globe are mountain ranges, ocean currents, past empires, as well as
cable/wireless routes.
This globe truly has the authentic
look and feel of an original antique globe from the 1800's. A unique,
exclusive ageing technique has been applied to give the globe its rich
patina appearance making it a very convincing replica.
Its massive 33" diameter makes it
one of the largest production globes available on the market. The overall height
towers at over five feet. This is a very impressive globe sure to fit perfectly
in a more traditional office, study, or library setting.
Many hours of hand craftsmanship
are put into producing each globe, paper map gores are individually hand applied
to the 33" sphere. The sphere itself is comprised of internal wood framework and
a fiberglass outer layer making it a very well crafted globe sure to last for
many years. All components used in the production of this globe are from
recycled and/or reclaimed sources.
