The clever design of the gold finished compass base stand allows the globe to convert from a stately floor model to a graceful tabletop model, simply by removing the leg extensions.  Fitted into the ground stone oceans is a grand mosaic of semi-precious gemstones, carefully cut and fitted into the shapes of the countries of the world. Golden wires form the latitude and longitude lines, running with precise regularity across the globe surface, which itself is coated with a protective layer of clear acrylic.
