The Astronomer
16" Floor Globe
The wide horizon
ring and yolk surrounding this globe elicits thoughts of Saturn and the planets
- an image further supported by the two spheres resting atop the stand's base
pyramid. Both space age and ancient, the Astronomer's Egyptian overtones lend
themselves to contemporary design. This globe is attractive to historians,
engineers, students, and astronomers. The iron base, with its natural rustic
finish, blends well in any design environment. (The Astronomer is available only
in 16" diameter).
Globe comes with a highly detailed, politically current, antique-ocean globe
ball featuring raised relief, soft borders, and an updatable globe program. The
16" sphere features over 4000 place names. The antique ocean globe ball used
adds a distinguished feel to the contemporary stand & the colors used on each
are complimentary to one another. Raised relief mountains are a popular feature,
adding yet another dimension to the exploration of the globe. The soft borders
seen on this globe is an aesthetically pleasing method of coloring the political
map, showing the country border shaded slightly darker than the rest of the
country. This effect also lends itself to easier readability of place names on
the globe. Globe comes with the top-of-the line calibrated die-cast brass
meridian ring.
