carved, solid wood floor stand solidly surrounds an expansive 20" diameter political world globe. The solid brass hand-engraved meridian
enriches the high-quality feel of this globe. Its touch controlled, 3-way dimmer switch is activated by simply touching the meridian ring. The highly detailed, 20" diameter globe features over 4500 place name labels, and a current political map. The paper gores are hand positioned on the globe, which is among the oldest methods and considered the artisan level of globemaking in today's automated world. This hand finished globe is offered in a choice of blue oceans or antique oceans. With the outstanding presentation of either color, this globe can fit nicely into a variety of décors.
Meridian is designed to rotate within the stand allowing for convenient exploration of places south of the Equator. Internal illumination casts off a nice glow, adding another level of readability, and makes a nice night light as well. Replacement of the internal light bulb is not difficult with the included instructions, and the replacement bulbs can be found at most hardware stores. Purchaser of the globe is entitled to the factory-direct globe update program, which allows one to acquire a replacement, updated globe ball at a later time for a reduced cost.
