Vaugondy Reproduction
Here is an exquisite reproduction
featuring the cartography of Robert de Vaugondy, globemaker for Louis XIV.
Mounted in an exotic ebonized wood stand with bronze full circle meridian
featuring engraved latitude degrees in original typeface complimented by a
hand tooled horizon ring. Deserving of a special spot on a desk or
table, this globe will inspire conversation and add interest to any
setting.
Vaugondy globes are produced using
copies of the original paper globe gores that are securely stored at the
Biblioteque Nationale de France. Special attention is taken to
replicate the complex 'gravure' printing process that was used during
this time period.
