Antique 3" Child's Globe  

Anonymous. English. untitled. 

Waxed paper gores over cork. No time dial. Highly detailed surface with oceans finished in tan showing ecliptic, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and equinoctial colure. Offset mounted on bent wire stand. Southwest Africa shows only Great Famaqueland [Namaqualand], Walfish Bay 1878, Damara [Damaraland] and Ouampo. It is believed the 1892 Rand, McNally miniature globes were based on this since all place names here are repeated. London ? c1879. Fine condition, unusual survival. Remarkably well preserved.
