ANTIQUE 3" ADVERTISING GLOBE

RAND, MCNALLY & CO. Rand, McNally & Co.'s New 3 inch Terrestrial Globe. CHICAGO. 1895 ©1891. 

Coated paper gores over solid molded brown paper mache orb. No time dial. Title on shield shaped escutcheon in north Pacific and in fine lettering south of Australia. Oceans finished in light blue green. On conforming shaped steel half-moon strut atop a cast iron inverted flower base rim with raised lettering, "Ross Meehan Fd'y. Co. Chattanooga Tenn." Steel mount nickel plated with some pitting to surface. With some national boundaries. Not a toy but a serious globe with much geographical detail. Shows Aus.Hun. in Europe, old African colonies, Russian and Chinese empires. Same as I.D.#07524 with Puerto Rico not designated U.S. Probably second edition due to lighter shade coloring.
